ASSESSMENT
COMMITTEE On the basis of the Capacity Assessment Instrument results, our committee determined our strengths to be in the following areas: School Improvement Plan; Information System; and Vision, Leadership-Governance, and School Community. We have been committed to improving student performance in the area of language arts. With leadership from the administration and input from the school community, we have determined various means by which performance can be assessed, utilizing technology whenever possible to analyze the data for immediate feedback. The resulting data has been shared with the school and general community, resulting in changes in curriculum and instruction. Areas that should be given attention in the future include the following: Process of Schooling (though our perception was at the Stage 3 level); and Resources and Allocation. Responses to faculty research were somewhat negative, not because it is considered unimportant, but because the majority did not feel they had the time to do independent research. Response was in the Stage 3 level, however, because committee members are implementing APL instructional methods, which are based on best practice research. The same general concern was voiced in connection with the time allotted staff for specific tasks required by the School Improvement Process and meeting the needs of all students. |
