COMMUNICATION COMMITTEE
NARRATIVE REPORT ON GOAL PROGRESS

In 1999, our school district identified the area of Language Arts and Reading as an area of improvement. This became the target area of our three major committees. Several of our strategies do not lend themselves to an easy measurement of success, but we feel that they are valuable tools for overall student achievement.

The following strategies are ongoing: School Homepage, Channel 13, PowerSchool, School In-Services (which include school assemblies, parenting classes, Special Time, Birthday Club, student/parent/teacher conferences, APL, Six Traits Writing, and Adult Education programs), Student Advisory Program, Teacher/Student Mediation training, and TeamMates.

The improved communication between the faculty, students, and parents has had a positive impact on our district and in the areas of Language Arts and Reading.
