SEPTEMBER
|
-Request
college application from 3 to 5 schools. -Register to retake the ACT and SAT. -Ask teachers and counselors for letters of recommendation. -Attend the College Fair in your area: Norfolk, Tri-State @ Marina Inn South Sioux City |

OCTOBER
|
-Visit
colleges that interest you. The College Prep Handbook has great questions
to ask. -Request scholarship information from your guidance counselor. -Talk to college reps visiting your school throughout the year. -Retake the ACT and SAT and try to improve your score. -Submit admission applications to colleges with Early Admission Programs. -Attend your area College Fairs in Norfolk and South Sioux City. |

NOVEMBER
DECEMBER |
-Submit
college admissions and scholarship applications. -Attend your school's financial aid program. |

JANUARY
|
-Complete
income tax returns (parent and student). -Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) before March 1. -Buy college essentials during post-holiday sales. |

FEBRUARY
|
-Use
the College Funding Estimator on the web site to estimate your family contribution. -If you were accepted for early admissions, submit your dorm deposit now. |
|
MARCH
|
-Register
for advanced placement tests given in May. A successful score allows you
to test out o some college level courses. -Expect and review you Student Aid Report. -Do some volunteer work over spring break. |

APRIL
|
-Watch
for college financial aid award letters. Compare awards by calculating gift
aid, loan requirements, and out-of-pocket expenses for each college. -Return your signed award letter and other required documents to the college Financial Aid Office. |
|
MAY
|
-Make
your final college selection and send a depost for admissions and dorm room. -Notify the colleges you will not be attending. |
|
JUNE
|
-Complete
Stafford and/or PLUS loan applications. -Check on reduced interest rate programs for on-time student loan payments. -Ask your college about a summer orientation session. |
